Anyone expecting something new and innovative from Jay Reatard could be initially disappointed with “Watch Me Fall”. Considering his sprawling prolificness, it could be guessed that at some point, Reatard would skew from his path of Danzig-like imagery set to Ramones tempos. Nope, he is still doing his thing–it may have more acoustic guitars, it may sound a tad bit cleaner, and it may be somewhat more melodic, but “Watch Me Fall” still contains that Brit-influenced punk jamming we all know and love him for. And with how consistently great the songs are, I don’t think anyone is going to have a problem with that. The word here is FOCUS–Jay Reatard has it. He knows what he wants, he knows how to get it, he wants to destroy…everything?
